Kadre marks the release of their first album “Ain’t No Woman,” an exploration of the constant struggles and inner workings of relationships.
In an industry characterized by marginal musicianship, superficial lyrics, and the illusion of true beauty, the Topeka-based band, Kadre, has emerged with a sound reminiscent of a better time. The dictionary defines “Kadre” as a nucleus or core group of trained personnel able to assume control and to train others. The name “Kadre” befits this group of virtuoso musicians, who first met as schoolmates at Belmont University, while studying music
Taking his lead from a diverse crowd of the masters such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, vocalist-guitarist-songwriter Riley Voth developed his technique while learning and playing classical and jazz music. Picking up the guitar at age 15, Riley developed his guitar skills in his basement hashing through endless exercises which allowed him to attain a solid grasp on most styles of music. While studying guitar at Kansas University, he further developed the idiom of jazz.
In the fall of 2008, Riley formed the group "Kadre" in Nashville, TN while studying music business. Kadre’s highly trained nucleus of musicians including Phil Burch (drums), Adam Quellhorst (Bass), Jared Brick (guitar/voice), and Ben Morgan (keys/voice) found camaraderie and an immediate synergy between their contrasting styles.
