I would like to thank John Jewell of JewellTone Records and Studios, Warrenton, VA for his invaluable assistance on some of these songs!

1. NINEFIFTEEN (2:41). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. A folk rock gem in the style of short and sweet Sixties Byrds hits. Dueling Rickenbacker Electric 12 String guitars and dreamy harmonies.

2. WHAT AM I DOING HERE (electric version) (6:00). Written by Jim Howard and Bill Kaffenberger. In honor of Vincent Van Gogh and urging folks not to give up on their dreams. A wall of sound approach to the Rickenbacker Electric 12 String with an extended jam ending that can only be described as Eight Miles High and Raga Rock on steroids, to quote a popular phrase.

3. SOMEONE GREATER (3:32). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. Another folk rock gem, Biblical in nature, in the style of Turn Turn Turn.

4. DAD (version two) (3:37). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. Gentle folk rock with a touch of the island sound in memory of my Dad.

5. (MELANCHOLY STAR IN A) PALE MOON SKY (instrumental) (1:42). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. Mysterious 12 string guitars swirling around orchestral voices in the background creating a lush mystical instrumental.

6. WHY DID YOU GIVE OUR LOVE AWAY (2:53). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. Another Byrds-like 12 string gem written in the tradition of Gene Clark, probably the best songwriter in the original Byrds. A touch of Telecaster here and there as a nod to the late great Clarence White.

7. LONESOME RIDER (2:53). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. Country rock gospel but this time using the Rickenbacker in a country mood.

8. YOUR SIDE OF THE STORY (6:00). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. With lyrics in the tradition of Bob Dylan, Rickenbackers and Telecasters swirl around each other as the verses weave a trail of love, betrayal, and redemption.

9. EARLY SPRING (2:41). Written by Steve Antonacci. Guest lead vocal by Steve with harmonies by Bill. Nice orchestral ballad supported by Rickenbacker sounds. A sample from our upcoming reissue of remixed and remastered songs from SOMEONE GREATER and PILGRIM, albums I did with Steve many many years ago.

10. DAD (original version) (3:29). Written by Bill Kaffenberger. The original version from many years ago remixed and remastered with added drums, bass and Rickenbacker guitar.

11. HEAVE AWAY (traditional) (2:55). Traditional sea chanty recorded by Roger McGuinn and many others. I hope you enjoy my version. Many thanks too to Roger McGuinn for keeping the folk tradition alive on the internent The Folk Den site!

TIMELESS JANGLE
author: Eric Sorensen

Bill Kaffenberger's fourth full-length CD is overflowing with the jangly Rickenbacker 12-string riffs that he is known for. In keeping with his previous releases, the disc includes original songs with both introspective and inspirational themes. Bill's song-writing has matured, and the tracks on "Your Side of the Story" also have a fuller sound - owing to a superb studio supporting cast. While many songs feature his crisp Rickenbacker sound, "What Am I Doing Here" is the standout track - as it comes the closest to reproducing the vintage Byrds sound of 1965-1966. Bill concludes the album with an excellent rendition of the traditional folk tune "Heave Away" - a very fitting nod to Byrds alum, jangle-mentor and folk music enthusiast Roger McGuinn. Long may you run, Sir Bill!

The Latest Great Bill Kaffenberger Album!
author: Ray Verno

This is a GREAT folk-rock, jangle pop album. There is no other way to describe Bill Kaffenberger’s fourth release here at CD Baby. “Your Side of The Story” is simply GREAT! The sound is pure Byrds and Roger McGuinn, from the middle 60s period. Lots of Rickenbacker 12-string jangle, and McGuinn’s signature phaser sound from some of his solo albums. Standout tracks are “Someone Greater”, “Ninefifteen” and “What Am I Doing Here” but you really cannot go wrong with any of the 11 tracks. All are solid. If you miss the Byrds’ sound of the middle 60s, you really need to download or pickup this album. You will have no regrets!
