Kahish's 35 year collection of self composed songs, span the color wheel of emotional and social fodder associated with life. For this compilation, many songs were written in the 70's when Kahish was raising her children in the woods of Oregon with no modern conveniences. The lyrics are a result of a sense of connectedness to motherhood and to the earth through country living, natural foods and wildcrafted tea. The most recent song "White Man Mantra" breaks away from the dreamy elemental mode, perking it up with a "mini cappuccino and a latte to go". Kahish always weaves a philosophical edge into her lyrics and that is no different on this project. The cover is a photo taken by Kahish of a wild yellow violet growing on a trail near her house. "Simply Elemental" is a 'one take' live CD with Susun Oneglia, musician and "Healing Arts" professional, improvising on violin to Kahish's original songs that Susun had only heard once before...(our studio time was for archiving songs, taking the pressure off getting it perfect) Kahish is working on the next project that will encompasses the funniest songs as humor plays a big part in her creativity. Kahish likes to work with other musicians who help to embellish the raw live solo sound. Kahish has also completed her lyric book putting 120 of her song lyrics in print. An appreciation of the "Healing Arts", lead Kahish to study more about the mind-body connection. Kahish became a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in 1996. Her clients loved her voice and found that her voice alone was a soothing experience when having a session with her. Kahish will continue writing songs as a way to make positive changes in lives which ultimately affect all of us.
