Album Notes

Using an innovative blend of jazz, folk and world music, the Kairos Quartet's resonate sound was developed by jazz educators Dyne Eifertsen and Steve Lishman during the mid 1990s. Since then, Kairos' mission has been to perform, promote and educate the importance of improvisation-based music.

Though rooted in jazz, Kairos often abandons the heavy use of swing, prominent throughout most traditional arrangements.

Their instrumentation is made up of the customary jazz instruments: saxophone, trombone and bass. But also includes the world music instruments: tabla and the didjeridu.

Based in Sacramento, the Kairos Quartet performs feature concerts as well as for fundraisers and multi-media art events. They are also available for group and/or solo improvisation clinics.

Band members are Steve Lishman, saxophone; Dyne Eifertsen, trombone and didjeridu; Matt Robinson, bass; and Alex Jenkins, percussion and tabla.
