Heads up everyone, this is the last batch of my homemade cd that will ever be available on cdbaby. In April, 2003, 'Everybody Loves You' will be released on Velour Records out of New York City. The release will hopefully be followed by a worldwide stadium tour with ninety foot video screens, a one hundred person chorus, and a fireworks display at the end. Or it might be me in my Toyota praying for a warm bed at the end of the night. Either way, catch it all happen before I sell my guitar and become a wandering mystic. -kk
"She plays with her hand over the neck, often with both hands way up the fretboard, frequently with alternate tunings. Her approach is so unconventional, that alone is worth seeing her for. Her tunes are intricate (with both hands, she sounds like 2 and sometimes more players) and very progressive. I've seen people play over the neck before, but it was always very slow and deliberate (Vic Chesnutt comes to mind, and he plays in a wheelchair). After seeing her, I stared at my own guitar for half an hour they way I would have at a car that just drove up the side of a building - I had no idea someone could pull off what she did, the way she did it."

Explosive, experimental, unaccompanied acoustic guitar magic!
author: Tim Dowling
I first heard this CD through a friend and I was totally blown away. No more than 10 seconds had passed before I knew I had to get my own copy. Kaki employs alternate tunings, two-hand tapping, and percussive drumming and tapping on the guitar to create a stunning array of sounds that sound like they were produced by a full band rather than just one Kaki. The tunes themselves are both thoughtful and unique with elements of folk and jazz as well as a character that is all her own. Highly recomended.
