Album Notes

Were there any doubt as to whether Rock & Roll and Country music was still promisingly alive, Kara Suzanne is wailing, kicking proof of its everlasting relevance. Her lyrics and vocal delivery bare the influence of songwriters such as Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton, and hearken even further back into the well of the folk tradition. Yet, with an innate, almost predestined sense, she manages to do it with an undeniably classic but updated sensibility. Of Kara Suzanne and the brawny, ever-formidable Gojo Hearts, people have been taking notice for some time. The Gojo Hearts are Steve Lewis on guitars, Jay Frederick on drums, Jordan Scannella on bass and Dave Cieri on piano. Aside from garnering increasing popularity from their shows at the Sundance, Nantucket, and Hampton Film Festivals, and in esteemed New York venues (Irving Plaza, The Living Room, Southpaw, and Luna Lounge), Kara's debut album "Aumsville" recently won Best Album of the Year Vox Populi from the Independent Music Awards. This band, simply put, is a veracious force.

REVIEWS

The best album I've heard in years
author: PadianNYC
Kara Suzanne and the Gojo Hearts play their hearts out, whether it is country, rockabilly, americana, folk, or whatever you want to call it. Each song features Kara on vocals and great backup by the Gojos. Every song, all written by Kara, takes you on a musical story and rides from touching to sidesplittingly funny. The album does not have a bad tune on it, but the hit might be "Eleven" (a great rocker) or "I Promise" (finding an old beau continuing his lying ways) or "Stumblin" (a story of being too overserved to flirt); all are great and this entire CD is on my playlist all of the tme. Buy it, but see them live, they are even better.........can't figure out why this band is unsigned.....

It's a pretty amazing debut album. If this is any indication of the future, they have a great career ahead. I'm sure Kara and the Gojo Hearts will go on to make much more great music, but this album will stand up with the ones to come.
