notes
Karen Daniel grew up, and now lives and sings, in Nashville, Tennessee. An active member of several local congregations and organizations, Karen enjoys sharing her musical talents with young and old. Already known for the Purim song, "Stomp, Stomp, Stomp" and the happy, "Sing a Song about a Rainbow," now she releases this new cd, filled with more teachable, singable and Jewish songs for holidays and other occasions.
Songs can bring togetherness and joy to families in many ways, tying us together across generations and miles. Karen once interned with a music therapist in her parents' hometown of Montreal. There she learned the old Yiddish folk tune, Vie is dos geseleh, which they sang to the seniors in the Jewish Hospital of Hope. In a desire to fulfill her grandfather's wish that she teach her children "real Yiddish," Karen now releases this song, along with the Yiddish classic lullabye, Oyfn Pripichek, in the hopes that many more children and families will become familiar with these traditional tunes.
Who among us doesn't have a special meal or dish that reminds us of home? Mama's Chicken Soup will bring back the aroma of your own home on holidays. Please sing along with this and all the songs on the Family Album, as you celebrate your own special family!
