"New Beginnings" marks the debut of Karen onto the music world. Sultry, elegant, insightful and sassy are terms that reviews have used to describe her sound. Born and raised in the Tulsa area, that gave birth to the GAP Band, Karen's talents were evident at an early age. "Music has always been a part of my life," says Karen during a recent interview. As is typical of many of the great singers of the past, Karen started singing in the church. As she grew so did her talent and popularity. This lead her to performing with local bands in and around the Tulsa area. Musically influenced by the divas of jazz and R&B, night clubs and cabaret style venues would become her forte. With personality and charm, she is able to draw an audience in to "her world" and as she said in a recent interview she "wants everyone to feel like they are the guest of honor" when she sings. In the years since those days in Tulsa, Karen has enjoyed success in other areas of her life that regrettably left little time to pursue a musical career. A mother of two beautiful children who are successful in their own right, Karen says, "When I realized that I was free to pursue what I really wanted to do, I decided to go for it." She began to sharpen her skills and actively seek out those who could help her. This eventually led to meeting Tim Hall of StageFright Music & Video Productions. "When I first heard Karen sing,"Tim says, "I was in total shock and awe. Her sound was angelic yet sultry; subtle yet so powerful. I decided right there that I would do all I could to see that the public be blessed by this incredible, classy lady." Along with the strength of "New Beginnings", Karen is indeed poised to rise to the top of the entertainment world."

Somebody remembers that there are adults that like music

New Beginnings is a good title for this collection because it has been so long since music for grown folks has sounded so fresh. Don't you Know is so powerful and booty shaking till it takes you back to when funk and R&B ruled the dance floor. Why not now is a track that is dual in scope in that on one hand it makes you wanna give praise to God but 2 minutes later you wanna get your groove on with your baby or someone else's. How's that for range. For me the best track is Here I am There you Are. It is a throw back to the night club scene that had people like Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and Nancy Wilson working a crowd. Its sassy, straight to the point and as hip as any hip-hop wanna be could ever be.The arrangement she does for the classic A Rainy Night In Georgia and the funky jazz inspired People Make The World Go Round ought to be in eveyone's collection. I am talking about moving. Karen really delivers a New Beginning with this one along with letting the world know nothings gonna stop her.
