(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

A blend of soulful vocal styling with rhythmic acoustic pop rock. Melodic and dynamic, Karen Naomi is soothing yet powerful.

notes

On the vocal cusp of Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, and Tracy Chapman, this sweet-meets-sultry voice offers a smooth familiarity while sounding fresh.

Karen Naomi's debut album, Blind, was released in 2005; a pop-influenced acoustic based EP of six songs containing hints of jazz, blues, and folk. Although Karen is one of those rare female artists who can boldly take the stage as a solo act, the album featured guitarist and solo artist Jamie Schultz, bassist Keith Bryant, and jazz musician/drum phenomenon Jaelun Washington.

  • Great sound!
    author: Matt Conner

The songs all contain warmth conveyed by the artist's comfortable voice even when the subject matter is frustration, fear, and loss. This CD will make you feel better but accepts that you may be feeling bad now. I look forward to an album with more than 6 tracks.

This cd will have you grooving no matter if you are standing or sitting hehe! You will be swaying from left to right to Karen's great vocals, the lyrics, the guitar, the drums, and the bass!!! The music is so beautiful, and some songs are mellow and others upbeat, but fantastic I tell you, you will absolutely not want to stop playing this cd! It is a must have cd, if you don't get it now, you will regret it by the time her next cd comes out, and you hadn't heard this one yet. For whatever cd comes next will be amazing, there is no doubt about that, since this cd, is already amazing amongst itself!

  • Karen Naomi's "Blind"
    author: Jason P. Halliwell

Karen a good friend of mine from junior high & high school. She has this great band based out of north dallas, and are doing some great gigs...I have been listening to their unreleased E.P.lately....its called Blind.... "Blind" is six tracks of great music. There are three fast songs and three slow songs.....Track one (the first single) is extremely catchy with a great pop hook to it. The song really introduces the audience to Karen's amazing vocal abilites, guitar skills, as well to the individualistic style of her band. In this track we are also introduced to Karen's gift of lyric writing, stemming from relationship woe's to looking forward for the right momment to go out and have fun with the perfect person in life. "Bitterness Remains", the second track really seperates itself from its predecessor track, and yet stays exactly within the walls of "Blind's" stylized folk/rock genre. The song is suprising upbeat, considereing its topics, and extremely rythmic in its melodies, once again, very catchy with yet another great pop hook. A great track. "The Other Me", takes a detour from its two prior upbeat tracks and begins to mingle with the softer side of Karens craft. "The Other Me", proves how this new group really focus's within its own sound as the group is solid as one sound moving together through its slow, yet tender melodies. Karen begins to start expressing non lyrical notes with her poignant voice, right along side her guitarist as if singing his notes with her own voice. "Frustration" begins with a soft & safe begining, and quickly transistions to a quicker pace. This track is quite rhythmic with it's "peeks" & valley's" melodies. In the begining of the song, she again expresess a short few non lyrical notes, which really sticks with you, wanting more- and then she gives it to you accompanied with some more great rhythm. "Elusive Ways", my favorite track, takes a darker turn into introspective lyrics about flirting with the mysterious nature of humanity itself. A welcoming departure from the tone of the rest of the album which gives me chills evertime I listen to it. I cant wait to see where this group goes...Karen's got alot ahead of her...
