ENGAGING! ENTERTAINING! INSPIRING!!!
KARIMA AMIN is a storyteller, educator, and author from Buffalo, NY who shares tales in her repertoire throughout the US and Canada with storylovers of all ages. With 24 years in public school education to her credit, and more than two decades of storytelling, she provides performances, workshops, keynotes and author visits to promote literacy, increase cultural awareness, enliven staff development, and improve human relations. She is known for creating programs that are tailor-made to suit the needs of her audiences. Her voice is very familiar in a community where she has shared fables on local radio (WBLK-FM) for a decade.
Karima is a co-founder of "Spin-A-Story Tellers of WNY" and "Tradition Keepers: Black Storytellers of WNY." She is also a member of the "National Storytelling Network" and the "National Association of Black Storytellers." Occasionally, she presents tandem-storytelling with Sharon Jordan Holley as "We All Storytellers." She has shared stories in local, national, and international venues. In 2002 she went to Senegal, West African to share African American folktales on Goree Island at the "Family Reunion Arts Festival." Her most recent stories in print appear in "The Adventures of Brer Rabbit and Friends," "African American Children's Stories: A Treasury of Tradition and Pride," and "My First Treasury: Grandma Loves You." In 2004 she reissued some of her favorite stories on a cd, "You Can Say That Again!," with local musician, S'wayne.
"You Can Say That Again!" is a cd compilation of fables and folktales re-told by the honey-voiced Karima Amin. It includes six of Karima's favorite stories and some educational commentary. The educational commentary, for older children and adults, includes: background information on the six stories; suggestions for reading, writing, and discussion activities to do with the six stories; information on the academic value of storytelling; and tips for storytellers.
Karima has received numerous awards for her work in education, community, and the arts. Her bio appears in Who's Who Among African Americans.

Karima Five...LIVE!!!!
author: Christel H.What else is there to say but...EXCELLENT! Karima's "honey-sweet" voice brings new life to stories that, for some, have been forgotten. These stories go deeper than the pages. They go back to one of the richest times in history. Each tale will have young and old thirsting for another. You feel warm all over...as if you're sitting in a rocking chair with one of your grandparents as they pass down that nightly dose of your heritage. I start of listening to one, and before I know it, I've listened to them all!Karima, you are apart of me. I share you with my grandchildren, in hope they too, will share and keep the "Brers" alive! Karima Five....LIVE!!! Peace & Prosperity to you and yours ALWAYS. C.H.
