Album Notes

My name is Karl Fortier and I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Michigan. My 3-song mini-album starts off with the title track, "Just A Whisper Away," a kind of power ballad about trying to re-establish a lost love. It represents what I consider to be one of my better tunes.
Then there's "Away With The Wind," my attempt at a country-rock song. My favorite artists in this genre are the Eagles and the 1970s-early '80s work of Eric Clapton. I don't think my song sounds anything like those legendary artists, but I don't agree with my dad on this one either...he says it reminds him of the Cars!
The third song on the CD is "Let Her Fly," a power chord rocker that a lot of people tell me is their favorite song (on this CD, not in the world.) I've always loved a good hard rock song, and "Let Her Fly" reflects this more than my other material. It's kind of retro in a Joan Jett sort of way. It's very different from the first two...I think you could actually dance to this!

Just A Whisper Away by Karl Fortier is a disc with three good songs on it. The title track is a catchy ballad you find yourself singing along to once you learn the chorus. I found the second track to be the weakest of the three, though it is still a good song. In my opinion it needed a different, perhaps softer vocal treatment. The third song starts out strong with some good power chords. I enjoy it as much as I do the first song. I look forward to more CD's from Karl.
