Karl Jones is a Sedona, Arizona based artist from Dublin Ireland where he spends part of the year. He has regularly appeared on Irish Television's Late Late show, Dublin music venues and Irish Music Festivals. A founding member of the U2 influenced rock band "Mixed up World" in the 1980's Karl went on to become an accomplished solo artist with the musical spirit of Irish recording artists like Christy Moore, Van Morrison and Paul Brady. His live shows include great original material with traditional Irish Ballads and drinking songs played in a dynamic contemporary Celtic style. He fuses folk, rock and blues with his exceptional skill as a guitarist giving his music an exciting and original sound.
Well established in the Southwest, Karl is a regular fixture of the Phoenix, Northern Arizona and Albuquerque New Mexico music scene's, playing primarily the Irish Pub circuit. He regularly has special guests accompanying him on Fiddle, Mandolin, Bodhran, Bass and Drums. He moonlights playing guitar for "Zosia" an awesome up and coming Californian singer who has a bluesy R'n'b feel reminescent of Jewel, and adds guitar to the studio projects of Washington DC based Electronic Trance group "Delog" fronted by "Jetsunma" formerly of the group Skydancer.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Karl Jones perform, and (between my hamburger and assorted bar banter) came away respectful of his style, genre, vocalization, guitar skills, and performance demeanor. I have also had brief conversational encounters with him, in which he demonstrates a diverse repertoire of interests and knowledge ranging from movies to politics.
It was not until I surveyed his live performance CD, “Dublin Soul”, that I became truly and deeply impressed with this fine musician’s special array of talents, nuances, tonality of both instrument and voice, and audience interplay. He is, as well, a craftsman at songwriting – even to the point of political and social satire . Lyrically, there’s bit of the Dylan in him. Additionally, I truly appreciate his loyalty to the Irish genre in his portrayals of the emerald isle’s folk tradition.
Karl Jones’ musical performance does not – more bluntly, can not – be adequately appreciated when mixed with burgers and bar banter. Indeed, it is a pleasant backdrop to momentarily higher callings of the audience. His uniqueness and special attention to nuance, storytelling, instrumental flourishes, and vocal detail are unfortunately lost in the din of the venue.. In short, Karl Jones must be appreciated in a setting that supports and honors a fine performers performance.
If you cannot find Karl Jones in a concert setting, do yourself a favor and obtain a personal copy of “Dublin Soul”.

I really enjoyed this CD as well as Karl's comments though out the CD, they were enlightening and very educational and informative.
It was nice to hear some of the old time Irish songs like I'll Tell Me Ma, Waxies Dargle, Wild Rover and few others that I haven't heard in awhile.
Great CD.
