In the 2002 and 2003 Billboard Songwriting Contests, David Karp had 5 out of 6 entries make the Top 1500 Songs in the Pop category! David Karp, from Long Island, New York, has been playing and writing music since age 15. In the early 90's, David played extensively throughout NY in various bands and later solo café gigs in the late 90's. Since then, David has recorded 3 CD's and collaborated with several fellow LI musicians.
David has been seen performing on Long Island's Cablevision Channel 20 and has also been heard from time to time on WUSB 90.1 FM (www.wusb.org).
David's music is a mix of Pop/Rock with an Acoustic Singer/Songwriter edge. His songs have been compared to such bands as Squeeze, Crowded House, and Matthew Sweet, with, of course, influences from The Beatles.
David's last CD, "Return To Zero", is available at performances, most music download sites (iTunes, Napster, etc.), and at www.cdbaby.com . All tracks on Return To Zero were written, performed and recorded by David.
David's next CD, "Get Things Right", will be coming soon...Fall 2009???
David has been playing drums and singing live with The Queazles (http://www.thequeazles.com/) since early 2008. See Gigs Calendar on my web site for upcoming shows.

Infectious pop songs for the thinking person
author: Theresa
I was first turned on to David Karp a year ago and now I'm a huge fan. Like his previous cd's, this contains several introspective, but not heavy, catchy and upbeat pop songs. Each song stands on it's own. The chorus of Wasting Away the Afternoon keeps creeping into my head... same with Lonely I, Dip Dip Song and Maybe I'm Just Wrong. Yes, definitely infectious, like chocolate for the ears! It will be in my cd player for a long time.
