Much of this collection is inspired by my daughter Ellie, including the title cut, Sweeter All the Time, a contemporary jazz groove called Smoothie (very smooth at 6 months old), the funky Rolling on The Elephant (a favorite stuffed animal), Swinging High (on her swing set), The Happy Guitarist (and proud father), and a lullaby called Angels Whispering in Your Ear, something Grandma said happened to Ellie when she was just a few months old.
Thanks is a tribute to legend guitarists Howard Roberts, Joe Pass, and Chet Atkins. Out of Towner is a humorous and harmonically challenging bebop style tune, written about visiting relatives, and I Dig Snow is a folk song with jazz overtones, written about Colorado snow.
Besides me on guitar, the album features trio and quartet combinations with Jesse Lucas on 6-string, fretless bass, Colorado drummer Mark Raynes, Byron Hamer on saxophone and flute, and pianist Mark Sloniker. Hope you enjoy it!

A beautiful set of numbers
author: Mike Flowerday
This is a quite beautiful album, with a wide range of treatments applied to nine memorable original compositions by the leader. Karrick plays with great authority and considerable taste, and is well-supported by a top-notch band. Especially fine to these ears is the mellow fretless bass of Jesse Lucas, whose sonorous lines are a perfect complement to some swinging, intelligent guitar jazz of the highest order. Impossible to find a low spot on this great CD.
