Evocative of a journey just beginning, yet filled with flashes and signposts of the wisdom and experience of one who has taken these steps over and over. This dichotomy is the music of Kat Downs. Questions filter through the fog yet there are glimpses of a grounded, focused singer/songwriter, a gypsy who has come to "take it in stride".
Beginning as both a classically trained pianist and flautist, Kat Downs eventually added the guitar to her repertoire. Singing was something she honed without formal training; it is a natural gift. Influenced by an eclectic mix- Billy Joel to Dire Straits, Ben Folds Five to the Pet Shop Boys, Weezer to Leonard Cohen- Kat left Wisconsin for California in 2001 and spent the next year creating the songs that would become "Head of Revelations". Between the creative times she performed throughout the Bay Area with her band "Good Natured Mortals" covering alternative and classic rock, and recently joined "Sparrows Point" - a theatrical heavy metal group.

author: John McCarvilleI purchased this more than a few months ago and I can not imagine taking this out of the CD tray. I have played it for many folks and everyone has asked about it. The music just takes you right in. No matter what mood you are in, this CD will set you straight. I can't wait for more music.

smooth & harmonious
when i first listened to this cd i was amazed of how melodic the songs were and the storytelling lyrics that took me to a enlightened state (especially while listening to my favorite songs "Into Spring" and "Photograph").. i felt so relaxed and calm.. Kat Downs has a remarkable talent in both songwriting and organizing the arrangements of the songs. for those who like artists such as Tori Amos and Sarah Maclaughlin or just a fan of really really good music i would suggest this album.. i can hardly wait for the follow up album..
A grand debut from a big new talent

author: GSPThis is a great new songwriter w/ a genuine musical intellect. 3 of my favs are Into Spring, Where You Left Me & Hallelujah. A lot of class performances throughout and some profoundly emotional tones crafted into the lyrics. This album takes the listener in a lot of directions.., and it's about time! Who needs a record contract? Great indie release!

Humming Along
author: egonThis isn't the kind of music to which I most frequently listen, but I find myself humming parts of a song, or sometimes "Count Your Blessings" will get stuck in my head. "Closer to Dawn" is definitely a "warm blanket, hot cup of tea on a rainy day" sort of song.
