Incorporating Music into Missions

“If you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the poor, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday…you will become like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail” (Isaiah 58:10).

From time to time I am asked by people how I write songs. Each one comes from a different place, a different moment, a different question, a different conversation with God. Those moments of soul-searching are what bring out all you’ve got inside. My music is inspired by the incredible life I have found in Jesus Christ, the awe I have at where He has brought me so far. I want to use whatever slice of musical ability He gives me to sing about it.

I have been involved in volunteer missions work since my early teens. Each trip has had a special impact on my life and brings with it incredible perspective. The fact that I have been able to incorporate music into missions has been a dream of mine. One of the most devastating things you can ever encounter in life is seeing starving children. ChildCry is about feeding hungry kids. What an incomprehensible thought that you and I can help make a difference. The need is great. We have the resources to start to do something about it. It’s that simple.
