Album Notes

I would like to thank my father for supporting, believing in me and making all of this possible. He is a driving force behind my jazz accomplishments, and pushes me to evolve and develop further.

Jeff Cumpston was a tremendous influence in my life, but tragically passed away in Zimbabwe during the recording of this CD. He inspired me to make music a priority, and will always be remembered in everything I do.

Noah Kellman was a real collaborator, and I appreciate his musical mind, and fine work on this recording project.

Maddie, you really did a great job singing that song. It was much better than if I did it!

Thank you to Sherman Clay, Moes Piano’s, Portland, Oregon for the use of their fine instruments.

Thanks to all of the people who have come to listen over the last few years, your friendship, encouragement, and real love for jazz made my desire to pursue this challenging career path much easier. I can only hope you enjoy listening to the CD this holiday season as much as I enjoyed recording it for you.

Ingenious, Interesting and Endearing Holiday/Seasonal Album
author: EGoodstein

A very ingenious mix of some familiar fare and worthy neglected older songs like 'What Are you Doing New Year's Eve,' 'Love Turns Winter Into Spring' and others (including some instrumentals), mixed in with neat arrangements of The Pretenders '2000 Miles' and a great 'percussive' take on 'We Three Kings.' All, including instrumental arrangements, are excellent and fresh too. Hard to find something new and interesting and yet still respectful of tradition in Christmas/winter records, but Davis does it. And her bass and violin playing as well as her vocals are sparkling and ingenious. This has instantly become one of my favorite Christmas/'seasonal' albums! Her first, 'Introducing Kate Davis' is super too. One of the most fun, most interesting young jazz artists I've heard recently.
