Album Notes

"Rootsy, Organic-acoustic...with guts." With various solo and collaborative feathers to her cap, Kate Eve, is said to have the “x factor”. With the ingredients of Modern Folk, Celtic Roots, Blues and Aussie Urban-Bush Rock, this music holds little appeal for kylie-pop devotees. Soul and sentiment run deep in Kate's tunes.

She's got gumption, good humour and a way with stories. She's got verve, compassion and profound insight into humanness, and this good-natured spirit saturates Kate's music and performance.

"Her intimate solo shows are like a one-on-one...like she knows your story and sings it just for you..."

The Kate Eve Collective ~
At the forefront of The Collective sound? Kate’s spiced-honey voice and rich Carson Crickmore guitar riding brilliantly through songs of hope, trust and yearning evoking a freshness of sincerity and authenticity; features dynamically supported and showcased by The Kate Eve Collective.

Outstanding provider of solid foundational rhythm and drive is drummer, Craig Edwards; a player drawing upon expansive influences and many years experiences in Melbourne’s music scene, enabling a sensitive, responsive band dynamic. Locking in with this bottom end is Michael Thomas, who comes with a background in big band, funk, jazz and originals and a very tasty bass. Fresh on the local gig scene, Mike brings a compelling intensity to the rhythmic foundations of The Collective.

Daz Leng has arisen from a melting pot of styles and cultures – from Singapore to New Zealand, heavy metal to funk – to become an eclectic and truly exceptional guitarist. A deeply seasoned live and session player, Daz is a brilliant catch for the Kate Eve Collective, as is Greg Hunt. His playing, described as powerful, passionate and sensitive and lending itself perfectly to the Collective style, Greg is a stalwart of the Australian music industry; his extraordinary range of styles can be found on numerous Australian recordings. Greg also appears with Dave Walker’s Blue Moon Lodge and the all-star cast of Ian Bland’s Lamington Drive Orchestra.

Backing singer, Megan Orrin has the vocal muscle of a blues mama, yet maintains superb subtlety for a broad range of styles from acoustic blends through to electronica and choral. A songwriter and performer in her own right, Megan has performed in various capacities but was recently snatched up greedily by The Kate Eve Collective.
