Album Notes

Keineg’s vast voice makes new songs sound familiar and old ones (a cover of Big Star’s Thirteen) feel new, unexpected. It’s both expansive and personal, a big record recorded in small spaces. It’s also elegantly eccentric, fearless and funny.

I've been waiting 13 years for her to put together a complete CD again. This is it.

I first saw Katell at the old club Sin e in the late summer of 1993. She was utterly entrancing and her voice has stayed with me in perfect musical recall since that day. With "At the Mermaid Parade" one of the great voices has returned. Her song writing is still at the same exceptional level and her exquisite tone, timbre and phrasing is still unmatched. Brittany, Wales and Dublin are all there and the long years have only strengthened her skills. One of best CDs of this decade.

over the years some voices fade and others shine in perfect musical memory. I first heard Katell at the old Sin e on St. Marks Place. late summer of '93. in that tiny place, the smell of coffee and a sweat beaded Rolling Rock and this lovely shy woman with a lilting voice shaded with touches of Brittany, Dublin and Wales. The voice of an angel soaring out over our upturned faces and floating into the east village night. pure magic. the years have come and gone and the voice is still with us. too long between visits but here now again like long lost friends. thank god.

My favorite Welsh Singer returns!

Another great release from Katell Keineg! This album has sparse yet varied production that highlights the pure gorgeousness of her voice, and the impressionism of her lyrics. Upbeat numbers like "The Arsehole Song" and "Summer Loving Song" have great harmonies, and who wouldn't want to live in a "World of Sex"? Not me! Also, check the great cover of "13" by Big Star (RIP Alex Chilton). My current CDBaby fave, BUY NOW!
