I heard Kate Mann on KEXP, and made a point to order Devil's Rope. I like the Southwest influence, as this is my home away from home. My favorite song is Old Soul. This CD is a little more country than I usually prefer, but it has enough to offer that it is still enjoyable.

There's something moody, brooding and unique about this CD. It's really different. It's rock, but not. It's country, but not. It's a fusion of both with a touch of jazz influence as well as ethnic/folk. The instrumentation and arrangements are wonderful and each song is completely different, yet each also reflects Kate's unique style of lyrics, music and performance. Kate Mann has truly found her desert gypsy rock voice.
