from the very first lyric, kate peterson's second independent release, undone, shines a bright light of ingenuity. each song genuinely reveals, fragment by fragment, kate's ongoing drive towards self-actualization.
her vehicle: a guitar style that rides a range of passionate to percussive to pounding.
and a powerful, soulful voice that flows straight out of her heart.
this heartfelt collection of songs unfolds into stories that wander the themes of introspection, relationships and gratitude.
"I adore kate petrson and her mellifluous, aching gravelly voice. Kate transforms, nonchalantly, mundane stories into strummingly sensual, powerful songs. They make my heart skip a beat every time."
- progressive queer artist-activist alix olson
kate peterson creates pleasantly aggressive folk music that you can rock to, cry to or just plain smile to. she's nice! and when you see her play, it's more than obvious that she sings from her heart and the worn spot on her guitar shows that she plays from there too...
kate has shared stages with many-a-talented performers including Toshi Reagon, Alix Olson, The Butchies, Pamela Means, Ellis, Edie Carey, Sarah Cleaver, Rose Polenzani, Tami Hart and more.

Folk music at it's best!
author: Heather Corcoran, CoffeeHouseTour
Kate Peterson's "Undone" totally blew me away! Fun, fantastic, energetic lyrics with a touch of folk-soul singing, Kate pulls the listener in with her soulful and husky voice. I especially love the subject her songs are about. She covers everything from mind-blowing love to amazing friendships in her latest release. This CD is a definite "must-have" to any folk music fanatic and this artist, is one to watch for!

Elegant yet raw, polished but gritty - everything good about songwriting
author: Elise
Dang. This girl is going places.
I stumbled across Kate Peterson when I was googling for another artist named Kate (Kate Rusby, actually), and her website popped up, so I thought I'd take a look - and wow, am I ever glad I did. "Undone" is an honest, unflinching, poetic, beautiful piece of work. She digs in with her guitar and creates incredible moods, then sings words that slice through to your soul. The instrumentation on the album is exquisite; it underscores the songs so beautifully (especially the cello parts). Kate has a bit of a similar style to Chris Pureka, whose album "Driving North" is another great example of exquisite, gritty-but-polished songwriting. If you like folk music, "Undone" HAS to be in your collection.
Kate, you're on your way to greatness - and I'm glad I found you. I'll be along for the ride from now on.
