Album Notes

"Nothing Tragic," produced by Tom Eaton (Vance Gilbert, Ellis Paul), is the record that finally captures Kate's live 'band' feel; casting her powerful voice in a brand new light. The record features long time Redgate sidemen drummer Zach Field (Molenes), and bassist Mike Miskis, with the addition of Kevin Barry (Paula Cole) on electric guitar and Tom West (Susan Tedeschi) on organ; a powerhouse ensemble which moves effortlessly from full on Southern rock to country ballad and back again, always supporting the foundation of Redgate's acoustic guitar and voice. Intensely personal, yet immediately accessible, the 11 songs on "Nothing Tragic" reveal the writer hiding behind the voice-- each song an unapologetic piece of her puzzle shaded in the colors of hammond and lap steel.

More Kate - Moving to Country

Some good news here is "more Kate", always a good thing. Kate's awesome voice is here, but the edges have been polished a bit. The album starts with some 5 new songs or so, they're good songs but the lyrics are not quite as good and the stories not as compelling as the past. No matter how the songs start off they quickly settle into a modern Country Music sound. The second have of the cd more or less presents some of Kate's greats in the new style of the album. This is a solid album, especially if you're not familar with her previous work, but over all I prefer Kate with a rocky coast delivery. Check it out, more Kate is always a good thing!
