Raissa Katona Bennett said of Kathleen in her debut cabaret show, “...she is a gem, and reminded me, once again, of why we perform - because it is a gift to the audience and she gave and gave and entertained the heck out of us. ...And is there ANYTHING Kathleen can't sing? I think not!”

When first delving into the world of cabaret, Kathleen learned from her new cabaret friends that it would be a good idea to talk about her life so people could get to know her. This proved quite a challenge as Kathleen works all the time and thinks she has no life – or at least not an exciting one that people would be interested in hearing about. So where to start?

Being an avid reader, Kathleen averages reading a book every three weeks and accomplishes this on her daily subway ride to and from work everyday. She loves daydreaming about the different stories she reads, thereby escaping into a different world. Her favorite story as a child was, “Snow White And The Seven Dwarves” and after years of growing up thinking that her prince charming would magically appear, she came to the realization that women especially are “brainwashed” from a young age into believing the perfect man will come riding up on a white horse to whisk us away into the “Happily Ever After”. But what happens if he doesn’t show up? Is something wrong with you if he doesn’t?

On top of that, she has now lived in New York City for 12 years and cannot find anyone in town to date. In a city of so many, how can this be? Kathleen is almost 40 years old and still single. One of her single girlfriends emailed her “The Singles Map” and she learned that in the New York and Northern New Jersey areas combined there are roughly 210,820 more single women than single men. Even worse, the scientific data collected by the researchers for this chart, does not take into consideration sexual orientation, so these findings are vastly skewed.

This show takes the audience through all of the happy, sad, joyful, frustrating, jubilant, longing, crushing, and hopeful aspects of love that each and every one of us faces throughout our lives. Even though Kathleen knows that her significant other has not come riding up yet, with a little faith and determination, she has not given up hope that one day her prince will come.

Kathleen learned about cabaret by participating in SUMMER IN THE CITY, a cabaret workshop taught by Lina Koutrakos and Lennie Watts, by going to various open mic nights at clubs around town, by attending numerous cabaret shows put on by other artists, and was a participant in the 2009 MetroStar Competition at the Metropolitan Room where she made the Top 18 finalists.
