Canadian pianist Kathleen Solose has received international critical acclaim as a soloist and chamber musician. Unanimous first prize winner of the Casagrande International Competition in Italy and winner of CBC’s national auditions for both solo and chamber music, she has appeared in recital in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, the United States and Canada, and has recorded for American Public Radio, and frequently for CBC.
Kathleen Solose received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the Juilliard School, New York, where she studied with Adele Marcus and Felix Galimir. Through numerous Canada Council grants for studies abroad. she was privileged to continue her studies in Italv with Carlo Zecchi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
She has performed in concert with Paul Marleyn, Erika Raum, Marc Destrube, the Lafayette String Quartet, and countless other artists.
The Solose Duo, a collaboration with pianist Jane Solose. has performed in Canada, Hungary; US to great accolades, and has issued a CD (ArielArts) of Schubert. Liszt. Chopin and Rachmaninov.
Kathleen Solose also tours with a magnificent copy of an 1814 Vienese Streicher fortepiano, one that Beethoven woold have played, in order to explore historic performance practices on the early piano, in repertoire ranging from Haydn and Beethoven to Schubert and early romantic literature.
These selections by Chopin epitomize the romantic artist, seTheself-absorbed, sensitive to the workings and messages of his subconscious, finding a vehicle for expression in his hands and in the piano.
