Much-anticipated, does not disappoint

Kathy and Carol's debut CD has long been one of my favorite albums of all time, and their unique and uncannily beautiful sound left me and my friends wishing for more. When "Keepsake" was announced after such a long hiatus, it seemed like a dream come true, and the album completely delivers. The reprise of "The Blacksmith" is a wonderful tie-in to the first album, and though the exquisite beauty of the song is unchanged, there is a sense of reflection and experience in the voices that renders the song even more poignant than in the first recording. The choice of songs is just as top-notch as ever, mixing moody, haunting pieces like "Claude Allen" with the coy twang of "I Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart." Really--don't miss this album. I don't care if you normally aren't a fan of folk or country or traditional music. The excellence of Kathy and Carol can't be crammed into a genre. You'll like this album.

All and MORE

I am a fan from the time that music came via big black discs rather than small silver ones. I feared that I would be disappointed by the new CD but it has shown a whole new side of the duo while preserving all that was wonderful about the original album. The beautiful voices persist, as do the exquisite harmonies, but a sense of playfulness ("I Want to Be a Cowboy Sweetheart" with yodeling!) coexists with a stunning rerecording of the tragic "The Blacksmith", traditional music with more contemporary songs ("Why Can't You Love Me"). And who could resist "My Dixie Darling"? I heartily recommend this new CD!!!

Never out of time
author: Larry Sturgeon
As Linda Ronstadt has written, Kathy and Carol's new album sounds "mature, but not over the hill,", to which I would add truely harmonious, easy to hear, and what's more, never out of time. As one who has been away from this genre of music for a long while, Kathy and Carol's new CD brings me back with a vengance. I will be listening to it for a long time to come. But in the final analysis, let their music speak for itself. It is truely a "Keepsake."

Fabulous album

I have been a fan of Kathy & Carol since their first amazing Electra album. Keepsake is even better. their beautiful harmonies continue as a signature of their style, their lovely voices are richer and fuller. For anyone interested in traditional music the purity of the music is a continuous joy.
