Album Notes

It is so rare to find someone who can really sing with emotion and ability, and Kathy Walker is truly a standout performer. Born in Texas and raised in Louisiana, Kathy grew up listening to great soul singers such as Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, and Al Green. These influences helped her develop her own unique voice and desire to produce music that shuns the current mania for over-production and lukewarm emotion.

She couldn't pull it off without a tight band to give her that rock solid foundation so intrinsic to soul music. Lilting guitar lines and warm analog keyboards (Hammond B-3, Wurly, Clav) meet with a solid rhythm section to create a potent, delicious groove. And of course the horn section adds that earnest old-school flavor to the Kathy Walker Band sound.
