ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"...the debut album from Seattle's Katie Kate (real name Katie Finn) is a stellar introduction to an exceptional, multifaceted talent that refreshingly tackles hip-hop, electronic, and pop in a bold, focused manner. Vocally, she boasts a mean, nimble, commanding rap flow in addition to a more playful pop singing style that often recalls Robyn. Katie also handles all the beats, crafting slick, diverse, propulsive electronic-enhanced beats, with two of the featured cuts "Copehagen," "Rüdiger") placing the spotlight squarely on her innovative production skills."

- Alex Ruder (KEXP)

"Over the last few years, Katie Kate's been on a diligent grind that's paid serious dividends. Heavy hiphop thinkers like Larry Mizell Jr., Charles Mudede, and Trent Moorman have given her props in The Stranger and on Line Out, and I'd like to add my two cents to this chorus of approval. With Flatland, rapper Katie Kate enters a prominent spot in Seattle hiphop's increasingly crowded upper echelon. The production on Flatland is consistently inventive, often venturing into weird IDM-ish territory (check the otherworldly, oddly metered "Rutiger" for proof; sounds like Beans, baby), while KK's supple, acute delivery and smart lyrics satisfyingly wrap themselves around your gray matter. She can sing with moxie, too."

- Dave Segal (The Stranger)

"Katie Kate (Katie Finn) is one among Seattle's badasses. She’s a spry, business-wise matron of the crew. With a slinky, flaunting syntax, Katie Kate’s cadent flow undulates. Switchbacks on the metronome drive a laid back hard count that bobs and weaves around her beats. It’s straight up, playful, and sparks off a parade of glitter and gemstone covered heat shields. Heat shields, as in able to both turn away, and contain much heat. Besides being a hip hop producer / MC, Katie Finn is a classically trained composer and musician. Originally from Albany, NY, she's finishing up a degree at Cornish in music with a concentration in Classical Piano studying under Peter Mack. Her senior recital is in March. She's studied piano, gamelan, composition, chamber music, and started out as a classical flute major."

- Trent Moorman (The Stranger)
