Album Notes

Music is a communal art and Katy Wehr\'s CD, \'In Others\' Words,\' explores the idea of music as conversation. By creating story songs from someone else\'s perspective or setting someone else\'s words to music (and all with her signature strong, pure vocals), Katy continues discussions ranging from innocence to experience, from misplaced expectations to reality, from doubt to trust. She invites you to join the conversation.

\'The Smell of Rain\' (2005) also by Katy Wehr, can be found on CD Baby as well.

Katy\'s music has been featured on numerous radio shows and podcasts across the US and Europe including BBC Northern Ireland\'s Rhythm and Soul, BBC Southern Counties\' The Sunday Breakfast Show, National Public Radio\'s Women in Music with Laney Goodman and Public Radio in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Carolina, New York, Washington and California. The song \"Minnehaha\" from The Smell of Rain has also been used as daily theme music for The Hugh Hewitt Show (nationally syndicated talk radio) since November of 2005.

REVIEWS

On this album, Katy Wehr evokes the deep-seated unity that Christians in every age share with the other saints. The songs range from lively to somber, from austere vocal heights to warm depths, from ensemble chorales to Uilleann pipe reels to guitar ballads, from breakup songs to seafaring chanties to liturgical prayers. Medieval devotional poetry is shown to be passionate and heartfelt, while contemporary relationships are mulled over using Arthurian legends. The album is full of variety but is uniform in its high technical quality and remarkably cohesive in its vision of generation after generation of humans who feel the depths of their need and marvel at the comfort of Christ.
