"Naked and Blue is a classic and timeless piece. "
author: Music Ugandan Online Magazine
Kaz Kasozi, brings forth 'Naked & Blue', which from the first listen exhibits many hours of lyric writing and instrumentation. The sound is authentic and unsynthesized; Kaz seems to have a liking for traditional western acoustic instruments. It is not the ordinary quickly done 'fruity loops' album punctuated with samples from other people's work that you'd find on the streets; 'Naked and Blue' is a classic and timeless piece and should go down well with those that really know what music is.
At times when you have Ugandan music made in a western genre, the authenticity of the Luganda is distorted. Kaz's Luganda words and pronunciation display his mastery of the language and the way he adjusts his words to fit into the soul/funk and bolingo music is commendable. Kaz, the multi-instrumentalist does all the instruments, and vocals, save for the wooden flute on Singa which was done by Louisa Le Merchand and the background vocals on Nsaabala which were by Essence Kasozi.
All in all, this album has Kaz's hands all over it and the unique description of situations seem to have emerged from a wealth of personal experiences.
