Award winning songwriter KC Craine is a veteran of the 1980's San Francisco music scene, having shared the stage with many of the popular acts of the time including Huey Lewis and the News, Jefferson Starship and Eddie and the Tide. After a 10 year hiatus, he has resurfaced in Portland, Oregon and built a loyal following of acoustic music fans in the Pacific Northwest.

His newest CD, "Daddy's Old Guitar," is a departure from the instrumental fingerstyle guitar of his 2003 CD "Second Wind," and features a roots-oriented sound that compares favorably to the great folk-rock acts of the 70's.

While known for live shows that reflect the influence of American folk legend Arlo Guthrie, this CD goes a step further by offering songs that are an introspective look at Craine's place in the world as an "almost famous" rocker now growing roots in the wooded backroads of Oregon.

The title track, "Daddy's Old Guitar," tells the story of someone finding his or her father's old guitar in a closet. It's a person remembering those days kindly, with love, and eventually learning to play like dad used to. This song - touching and hopeful - is a quiet anthem for closet pickers and retired rockers caught in corporate cubicles across America.

In addition to KC's original compositions, four songs by Steve "Eddie" Rice, are found on this CD. Rice, known as the songwriter and front man of the popular 80's Bay Area group Eddie and the Tide, is now retired from recording, so long-time Tide fans will get a treat with these undiscovered songs.

Other standout tracks include a haunting rendition of "Stuff that Works" by alt-country greats Rodney Crowell and Guy Clark, as well as a uniquely arranged version of the John Hiatt's "Where Nobody Knows My Name."

Fans of new-folk and acoustic Americana should take note, as well as fingerstyle guitar enthusiasts. Listeners will find plenty of tasty acoustic guitar and harmonica, relaxed vocals and atmospheric arrangements.
