Top CD out.I don't unferstand why it isn't played on radio nationwide. Not only is it great music, but the artist pronounces each word so that you can understand it. Wish more music was like this.

Jensen writes with a refreshingly clean and honest eloquence. Her lyrics explore a full spectrum, from blantantly introspective to tongue-in-cheek, and there is an air of elegance in her instrumental performances. My particular favorite is "Hard Act To Follow" - as a blues pianist, Jensen really knows how to "sell" a song.

From the wooded mountaintops of the South comes Kathy Covert Jensen, opening her heart’s deepest journals, and veiling them softly with folksy inspiration. On this record, the soulful piano bard (who could carry an entire concert on her 88 keys) reaches back to the hills to showcase talents on other instruments. On “Rock Me Away,” she creates a memorable piano melody, while other instruments take a back seat to her personal reflection, and even allows the music to rock the listener back and forth like a gentle tide nudges a napping tourist. Similarly, the album’s closer, “Your Guitar,” builds appropriately (with potential to become a Benatar-esque stadium anthem) while still maintaining a solid flow throughout. Intriguingly, while she is an accomplished keyboardist, it is the acoustic guitar on which Jensen often relies to develop her singer-songwriter persona, sprinkling in dabs of harmonica, rich harmonies, and tastefully-incorporated synthesized colors that blend well with licks thrown in from her jazz/funk/rock chums. She is true to her piano, though, and succeeds at creating fun or thought-provoking music to reinforce what she targets lyrically. Her words bring a quiet, heartfelt sincerity and intellect to even the bounciest boogie, blues or Caribbean influenced melodies on the recording. For my money, however, Jensen is at her best when her vulnerability is less emboldened by grander production--alone in a room with a guitar or piano to share with us her pensive introspection.
