Reviews
The casual excellance of his playing betrays not only a considerable talent but also a respect and devotion to the music, which has been the hallmark of Keane`s playing for a long time now. This is hardly surprising for a man cradled among the giants of the last generation:Leo Rowsome,Willy Clancy,Joe Cooley,Tommy Potts,Sonny Brogan,John Kelly,Paddy Taylor and Tommy Reck. - Jim Kelly - Irish Music Magazine.
-------------
"This was a homecoming gig to be savoured, an all-to-rare tincture of the right stuff from a man who has revelled in its midst for upwardsof four decades now.......
Siobhan Long - "The Irish Times"
-------------
"ACCORDION PLAYER JAMES KEANE HAD A HUGE EFFECT ON ME, AND I OWE MY ENTIRE INTRODUCTION INTO TRADITIONAL MUSIC TO HIM"
Paul Brady - Popular singer and performer.

About JAMES KEANE.
James was born in Dublin to a very musical family 1n 1948.
Taking up the button accordion at age six he learned his craft living and playing among all the heroes of Irish traditional music in Dublin and in counties Longford and Clare. He played a major part in the Folk Music Revival of the `60s where during a series of concerts in Dublins Grafton Cinema saw James and his brother Sean on the same bill as The Mc Peakes of Belfast,Ewan Mac Coll and Pete Seeger. He has made New York his home since 1967 and is one of the most respected artists of his generation captivating
audiences around the world for almost five decades with his passionate devotion to preserving authentic traditional Irish music to honor the spirit of family and friends who have so profoundly influnced it.As a teenager he co-founded the Dublin`s fabled "Castle Ceili Band" that included musicians :John Kelly,Joe Ryan,Michael Tubridy,John Dwyer,Mick O CONNOR,Liam Rowsome, Bridie Lafferty and fiddler brother Sean Keane.Other musical partners over the years have included Paul Brady,Tommy Peoples,Paddy Keenan,Seamus Tansey,Mick Moloney,Seamus Connolly,Garry O Briain and John Doyle. Some of his CDs have included : "Live in Dublin", "With Friends Like These" and "Sweeter As the Years Roll By" which was selected by Irish America Magazine as one of the Top 20 traditional albums of the last two decades. In 2004 James was inducted into the Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann Hall of Fame and was personally welcomed by the Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister)Bertie Ahern upon his return to Dublin for a retrospective concert. This performance was recorded for RTE (and since archived on the internet at www.rte.com)then aired as a two-part edition of Kieran Hanrahan`s radio show Ceili House. He was a witness to the lives and times of some of the legendary figures of traditional Irish music, and his latest series of lectures on this topic were recorded for posterity at the 2005 Swannanoa Gathering at the request of the Smithsonian Institution.New York has been home to James and his family, his wife Theresa and sons Brendan and Seamus, for the past forty years. He really enjoys playing as part of a new group "FINGAL" with fellow master musicians Randal Bays and Daithi Sproule. He can be reached through his web site
