the legend of

"kelda is a talented band with a genius for bittersweet love songs . . . Take the opportunity to see this quintet in an intimate club and you may well end up with an 'I saw them back when' story to tell."
~ Sarah Torribio-Bond
Music Connection Magazine

"Music is in my blood." Growing up listening to musical tales of her family: from her uncle, Ornette Coleman, and his experimental jazz, to her mother, a singer on broadway, to her grandfather, a nightclub pianist all his life . . . kelda could not help but set out to create a musical legend all her own.

Before the age of 18, kelda had moved all over the country, living in six states and attending 11 schools. The only constants in her life were God, her mother and her piano. Even during these troublesome moves, usually involving great distances, her mother always insisted on bringing the antique, upright Nordheimer piano along. And so at the early age of five, kelda discovered her passion for the piano. Ever since, she's had ebony and ivory on her mind.

But at the age of 11 her musical transformation really began to take its course, when she learned musical composition and altered her focus from Bach and Chopin to her own work. As she has stated, "the journey of songwriting has made all the difference."

With a full ensemble backing her now, kelda is being truer to her music, passion, and message. The band is comprised of kelda on keyboard/guitar/vocals, Andrew Glazier on cello, Geoffrey Jost on bass, Pesci on guitar and Tim Hunter on drums/percussion. With musical influences from Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan to Fiona Apple, kelda's unique and hypnotic songs can liven the hungriest of audiences and sooth the loneliest of hearts. The music can best be described as a sensual union of rhythmic funk and melodious piano-based alternative pop with immediate lyrics and a youthful sincerity that's earnest, open and real.

kelda is currently playing all over Los Angeles at clubs and coffeehouses, ranging from The Knitting Factory to The Gig and The Mint to Genghis Cohen (see "venues" enclosure for full list). Music from the debut EP is currently being played on 95.9FM in Los Angeles, xm satellite radio-the unsigned channel (www.xmradio.com) and college radio internationally. Also, the music was recently licensed for MTV programming, including the hit reality series The Real World and Road Rules. In 2004, they released their second EP, "Carried Away", which was produced by Geza X. Contact kelda for more information via e-mail at kelda@kelda.net or via phone at 323-829-9405.

Beautiful hearfelt music from a beautiful girl

Kelda makes beautiful hearfelt music played and sung by a beautiful girl. The band is great too. Carried Away is great piece of art by a talented artist(she pulls it off live too). My favorite is "Let It Go", thought very emotional and somewhat sad, an amazing song. Don't turn it off after the 4th song... there is a great hidden track(also one of my favoites) that is just Kelda and the piano, but is really beautiful and full. I'm definately a fan

Beautiful melodies and harmonies.

"Carried Away" is one of my favoite Kelda songs and it is produced here with lush harmonies and a driving rhythm. Kelda's voice soars above it all with ease and grace making for a truly beautiful track. The rest of the CD is good too, but I usually have to listen to #1 a few times before I get to the rest. :-)
