Album Notes

Hear the Real Thing. The Kelly Bowlin Band's debut release “Williamsburg,” takes you back to the Kentucky roots of Kelly Bowlin --critically acclaimed frontman and singer/songwriter of the group. “Williamsburg” is an eclectic blend of straight-ahead rock-n-roll, acoustic folk, and down home Appalachian blue grass. Accolades from local critics and musicians alike, Kelly's musical style is much akin to legendary artists' Steve Earle, John Prine, John Hiatt, and Ry Cooder… In the last year, The Kelly Bowlin Band has been touring up and down the west coast and has been receiving mass attention by major concert venues and national touring artists due to their loyal fan base. The Kelly Bowlin Band has opened up for such noteworthy artists as: The Blasters, Soul Asylum, The Radiators, Dave Mason, John Clyne and the Peacemakers, and many more. Here is what some of the critics are saying about Kelly Bowlin: “….celebrates the spirit of American music. Gritty vocals and blazing skills on the guitar and mandolin…” - Robert Kinsler – OC Register Critic “….The Kelly Bowlin Band has experienced an almost Cinderella type story over the past two years. Dwight Yoakam meets the Rolling Stones…” - Newport News “….If you hurry, you can say you knew them when, but it's gonna take some fancy footwork…” - Sun Post News “….Dramatically arranged, heartfelt, grounded and real…” - Music Connection Often autobiographical, “Williamsburg” is a musical tapestry that blends the best of gritty rock-n-roll with the introspection, sensitivity, and organic ambience notable of bluegrass. “Kentucky Angel,” “Paper Wings,” and “Williamsburg” are some of the songs that will keep the mindful and aware listener intrigued and delighted. Forget the trite, fleeting, ephemeral sounds of today's mainstream music. “Williamsburg” is an odyssey into the Real Thing.

A great blend of Country and Rock and Roll. The words are great, especially "Paper Wings". It's kind of hard to pin down, it's very different and I'm moved every time I play it.

Locks you in from the very first song

Every song seems to move a different emotion. "Falling" is my favorite, "Paper Wings" seems like it could be a hit on the radio and "Why Can't I" explodes out of nowhere and The Steve Earle song, Copperhead Road, totally rocks. A Fantastic CD!
