Kelly Coleman is a little known but highly regarded independent piano composer of mood/new age/neo-classical music. Kelly hails from Sacramento, California, and currently resides and records there. Kelly got his start at an early age taking piano lessons from his mother, and has composed and recorded piano music since his early teens. Although he seldom performs live (mostly in his hometown church in Sacramento), Kelly has gained the respect and admiration of many in the Sacramento area, and has quickly spread his fan base while concurrently working full-time as a paramedic and attending college at Sacramento State. Kelly's debut solo piano album "Depth" is a culmination of several years of composition and work. On the album, Kelly combines relaxing, light piano tracks with intensely moody recordings that reach into the soul and define the ups and downs of life. The song "Beautiful One" is a nice start to the album and is contrasted by the song "Thunder," a highly original and dark track. Included on the album is the song "In the Garden," a testament to Kelly's faith and religious background. Also be watching for the hidden track, which is perhaps the most beautiful and inspired track on the CD. All of these songs can be partially sampled on the left. The whole album flows nicely, and listening from beginning to end provides great background and mood music. This album is perfect for listening while studying, working, hosting a nice dinner party, or just relaxing and meditating. Several mothers of small children have reported that Kelly's piano music helps to calm their young children during nap time. In all, "Depth" provides a listening experience not often heard in music today; original solo piano compositions that blend originality and passion with stirring melodies to create a sound that appeals to all ages. Currently, Kelly is working on a follow-up album, and continues to compose music with passion and thoughtfulness while his piano music style evolves. Since Kelly is an independent artist, he works on his music without pressure or deadlines, focusing instead on quality in his compositions and in his recordings. Look for Kelly's next album in the future to be original just like "Depth," yet more progressive and fun as Kelly continues to create his own style of music.
