notes

A delightful arrangement of big band swing and cool jazz driven by Kelly Wright's powerful vocals, "No Secret Anymore" is a must-have CD for your vocal jazz collection.

This Seattle performer is fun, classy and gives the listener knock-out vocals on great arrangements featuring a "who's -who" in Seattle jazz...Jim Knapp, Chuck Deardorf, Mark Ivestor, Jon Goforth, John Hansen, Hans Teuber, Vern Sielert, Steve Korn, Dave Pascal, Susan Pascal...just to name a few!

Born and raised in Detroit, Kelly was singing all her life. She moved to Seattle to pursue a career in radio but her true love of singing was always there. She began performing with a local Seattle group called The Washingtonians! and was a featured performer with them for the last 5 years until the group retired in 2002. The stars aligned and this naturally talented singer was given the opportunity to work with some of the best musicians Seattle has to offer..."No Secret Anymore" is the result!

"No Secret Anymore" features songs from Sammy Fain, Antonio Carlos Joabim, David Frishberg, Randy Newman, Theodore Shapiro.

"No Secret Anymore" was produced by Seattle singer/songwriter/comedian/Britney Spears body double Lisa Koch (pronounced "Coke")who is well known to Seattle audiences as one-half of hilarious sketch-comedy duo, Dos Fallopia (with comic Peggy Platt), and is an alumnus of cult quartet Venus Envy ("I'll Be A Homo For Xmas").

  • Amazing singer!
    author: Morgan

I can't believe that Kelly hasn't been discovered by the listening public! It is clear that she is influenced by some of the greatest singers of this century: Doris Day, Anita Ellis, Keely Smith - all right out of the heart of the big band era. No sugar-pop princess here. This lady is all talent and voice. I highly recommend this CD.

  • A singer with a great voice!
author: Peter D. Harris, Rambles.net, a cultural arts magazine

The most famous song here is "Secret Love." This classic song...has been interpreted in many different ways and I've heard a lot of different versions, but Kelly's is distinctive and dramatic while still paying respect to the original. This is a fine debut by a singer with a great voice.

  • I dare you to find a flaw with this album.
    author: David Strickler at NowOnTour

I dare you to find a flaw with this album. Granted, it might not appeal to everyone's tastes, but if you like great pop/jazz standards from the middle of the last century sung with an impeccable passion, buy, borrow, or steal this album...No Secret Anymore would be an extraordinary listen without any vocals, but it HAS Kelly Wright, and Kelly Wright means vocals.

  • Entranced!
author: Justin A. Pin-Yen, Sheheshe Music Services

"As often happens when I am reviewing I am listening for something that connects with me or strikes me over the head in such a way as to make me stop and pay close attention and become captivated somehow. The song "Where" from Kelly Wright's release "No Secret Anymore" was just such a song. If I had to pick only one single from that Album it would be that one."

    author: Kym Tuvim

Kelly Wright has delivered an album which is simply stellar!! Kelly has so much heart and her voice is just gorgeous. What a powerhouse! And, the wonderful collection of songs presented here - both beautiful and playful - this is a must have!! It's about time this amazing singer/performer had her own record to share with the world! She's no secret to those of us in Seattle, and I know it won't take long for the rest of the world to know about this Seattle treasure! Way to go, Kelly!!

  • One of my favorites!
    author: Nancy M.

A great selection of songs made even better by the musical arrangments and the great voice of Kelly Wright! Kelly proves she can really belt out a song with the wide variety of music she has chosen. Old Cape Cod is one of my favorites along with The Song of the Old Mill. Easy listening made even better by Kelly Wright! Loved it!

  • A Debut?
    author: Michael M.

Who would believe that this would be a first CD? The arrangements of the songs, the musicians, and of course the amazing vocals! This CD is just a stellar experience from the first track to the last - truly. I've not taken it out of my ear shot for months. I can't wait for the next one.

  • Strong vocals and great arrangements
    author: Beth S.

Kelly's amazing voice is the focus to be sure, but she is also backed by some truly amazing arrangements and wonderful musicians. She breathes new life into some great songs and is not afraid to put her emotion in her work. A must have!

  • big fun!
    author: rob reinhart

on a first disc, the listener can usually hear the timidity of the artist as they navigate the studio, the songs, working with a band for the first time, etc. on No Secret Anymore, all you hear is kelly and her band having fun... with some of the last century's best songs! and the surprise tracks (not listed) are a hoot. i can't wait to hear the sophomore cd!

  • A musical journey I want to take over and over again!
    author: Meghan C.

When I first listened to "No Secret Anymore" I was blown away by Wright's vocal range as well as by the unique arrangement of songs I was mostly familiar with. From the swinging beat of "Everybody Eats When They Come to My House" (my personal favorite) to Wright's sultry version of "Viva Las Vegas", this cd will find a place in every listener's heart. It's a must have for anyone looking for a fresh new voice with a little sass and lots of style.

  • Awesome no less
    author: Linda A Simpson

A great mix of swing and jazz that hits the mark on the style of music I love. Add Kelly's voice and WOW!!! Who could ask for more? I can.....when is the next CD coming.
