ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Keltik Kharma is a California-based Celtic band performing Traditional Celtic, Neo-Celtic, Keltik Age, and Green Jazz.
Keltik Kharma began in 1990, started by founding members violinist Chris Vitas and guitarist Fred Benedetti. Chris and Fred were known as the “MIDI Bros.” back then and performed a variety of styles of music with MIDI instruments, including Traditional Celtic tunes. After many years, Chris and Fred went back to their roots with acoustic violin and guitar. They performed traditional Celtic music with some interesting differences. They discovered that by changing meters (for example from 6/8 to 4/4, or from 9/8 to 3/4), it made for much more interesting concerts. The next level in the evolution of Keltik Kharma resulted from the discovery of Green Jazz. Starting with the same basic structure as the previous incarnation, namely Irish fiddle tunes, Keltik Kharma enhanced these beautiful melodies by the inclusion of intricate improvisational sections performed on electric violin, guitar, bass and drums.
