Album Notes

Keltik Kharma is a California-based Celtic band performing Traditional Celtic, Neo-Celtic, Keltik Age, and Green Jazz.
A short time ago, members of Keltik Kharma found themselves performing at a small venue in the city of San Diego, California. Lacking a drummer, Chris Vitas (violin), Fred Benedetti (guitar), and Jeff Pekarek (bass) decided to liven up the performance with edgy, knock-em-dead solos and lengthy improvisational melodies. Someone in the San Diego music scene noticed that the result was much like jazz, only depending on Irish fiddle tunes for the melody lines. So Irish music (the Emerald Isle) + jazz = Green Jazz, a notable discovery in the history of Keltik Kharma. The Green Jazz CD adds Duncan Moore on Drums and was recorded live in the studio, thereby capturing the excitement of spontaneous composition. Some songs border on the Keltik Age style atmosphere, while still retaining the Green Jazz edginess. This album marks the first time all electric instruments were used in a Keltik Kharma production.
