Ken Clark: Hungry Ghosts
author: Servant's Heart CD Review
One year after recording the musical comedy “Get It Off Me”, Ken Clark returns to his solo career with Hungry Ghosts, a great effort that melds ballads with anthems, heartland rock & roll with power pop, solemn sincerity with tongue-in-cheek cheer. Clark is nothing if not a multi-tasker, having spent the bulk of 2008 in the production of another musical comedy revue he wrote the music for “The Kelly’s Truck Stop Bop”. Juggling those gigs with a solo career is no easy feat, and the fact that Hungry Ghosts is quite good -- solidly crafted throughout, with clever songwriting and spirited performances (most of which were recorded by Clark himself, from drums to keyboard to guitar) -- is testament to the musician's wide-ranging talent. Also, the album showcases the talents of a great blues guitarist, Rick Fowler and the percussion of long-time friend John M. Williams. After jumpstarting his album with "Photograph," a standout tune that molds Tom Petty's influence with glammy swagger, Clark peppers Hungry Ghosts with observant tales of inner demons with “Hungry Ghosts” a terrific insightful song. Compare "Hungry Ghosts" with "Glide," with “Broken Wing” with “Don’t Raise More Devils Than You Can Lay Down” and you get the full spectrum of Clark's songwriting ability, which is as razor-sharp in 2008 as it ever has been.

Ken Clark Songwriter
author: Sparrow House CD Review
Ken Clark, Hungry Ghosts is a little known three-man project that is definitely worth some headphone time. I can’t remember how I stumbled across this CD but I definitely want to spread the word. Ken Clark is the songwriter and voice behind the band name. Ken also plays keyboards, guitar and drums. Along with Ken is a virtuoso guitar performance by Rick Fowler who also plays bass and drums on this CD. John Williams also play drums on the CD. Favorite songs include: “Hungry Ghosts,” “Behind The Veil,” “Glide,” and “Don’t Raise More Devils Than You Can Lay Down”
