a songwriter/singer.. songwriter first because that's my passion. My musical style is ‘eclectic soul’ because whether R&B, jazz, pop, dance, adult contemporary, country, world or folk…it’s all done with a soulful R&B verve.

I truly feel music can be a powerful voice for change, so I write about real life as well as what I wish it could be.

My first album... "Life, Love, Lessons & Jazz" is autobiographical of my life, love, lessons I've learned and my new love... Jazz.

Kendra is a winner of the Song of the Year Contest (www.songoftheyear.com) in the “world” category for “Island Girls” and a finalist for the songs “Love’s Back In Control” and “Is He Gonna Treat Me Right?”; Hit Quarters & Songquarters Arists of the Month September 2006. This CD has such a diverse style. There is something on here for almost everyone.  If you like R&B, jazz or hiphop, you will love it too.  Love Deja Vu is such a smooth song. Great lyrics. Makes you want to kick back and take a long drive.  Way to go, Kendra!

While I have never met Kendra, I found myself drawn to her music at www.songu.com.  I think what she does real well is bring back that "soul element" that groups like the O'jays had had back in the seventies.  Kendra intergrates the soul component with today's sound to give it that eclectic mix of soul, r&b, jazz, and pop.  I like just about everything she does.  Give this a listen.  You will find something you like.  Great work Kendra.

Since I have known Kendra, I listened to an artist who has grown continually in her voice and writing style.  This is an EXCELLENT CD of some fine Jazz and R&B.  Very eclectic mix of some excellent story telling and song writing.  Listen to Love's Back in Control and Is He Gonna Treat Me Right.  The latter is one of my favorite songs by Kendra.  Every song on this album is great, and I can hear most of it making its way on to the radio someday soon.  Keep your eye out for Kendra, she's going to beat us all to the Grammy's. :)
