Album Notes

Kenny Edwards has been quietly working on a solo CD, his first in a long musical career. The album was produced by Freddy Koella, who also is the longtime musical director for Willy DeVille. Tom Kell and Wendy Waldman are also on the CD as well in supporting roles. Kenny's first recording was in 1966 as a member of the Stone Poneys with Linda Ronstadt. Since then, he's recorded with Don Henley, Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks and many others. He has produced three albums for Karla Bonoff. In the late '60s, he helped co-found Bryndle and has been a big part of both their recordings including co-producing their most recent release, House of Silence. This is his first solo recording and it's a good one!

Kenny says:

In all the years of playing music and making records I've never considered myself a solo artist. I've worked with other artists whose songs and voices are so good that I always devoted my self to bringing out the best in their music.
Well, about a year ago I met a fine musician, Freddy Koella who, in looking for material for other artists he was planning to record, took a liking to my songs and even my performances of them. Imagine that.
In a radical departure from all the production/arranging work I had done up 'til now, I decided I would totally submit to be "produced" by this very talented man. I could only do that with someone whose taste I trusted implicitly; Freddy was that guy. So this debut CD of mine is really a collaboration with Freddy Koella and I continue to be amazed at the wonderful music he added to mine.
The whole CD was based on live performances of my vocal and guitar (or mandolin) and the minimum of overdubbing. Its pretty intimate and homey sounding and I like that after all the band oriented music I've been involved with over the years. To that end I resisted calling on the great talents of my friends in many cases just to let this CD be what it is.
I hope that the people who have supported Bryndle and our other work over time will be surprised and pleased by this record.

Wonderful album full of poetry and great guitar masterwork
author: Jipes
This album is just amazing not only Kenny Edwards is a wonderful but underated singer but his songwriting is excellent full of poetry and intelligence. Freddy Koella who produce the album and play several instruments has a great taste for acoustic songs and blues oriented songs.

wonderful songs carried by a voice you'll remember... I'm glad I discovered this record at cdbaby! This is perfect stuff for a sentimental mood even if you're not into bluegrass. If you have come to love his part in Bryndle, this is a definite must! And if you simply love great guitar music: get it!

Kenny, I've seen you name so many times on so many of my albums/cd's. I've always enjoyed you bass playing but man you've a gem with this solo album. Usually I'll buy an album and like half the songs or find one or two that just do not do anything for me. Your cd on the other hand sits right there with the first 3 Jackson Browne albums as in my book, each song a wonderful story...and you cover Statesborro Blues so soulful, fresh, this album is just right for what I'm going thru in my life now. Nothing like a broke heart song to bring the empathy a fella needs. Thankyou so much, music is a healer and you are the doc for me right now. Kent near normal IL
