Kenny Gates was born in Brooklyn, New York on Feburay 27,1948.Kenny started piano lessons at nine years old and has continued to develop his musicianship and performance since that time.He studied at the Brooklyn conservetory of music and at Hunter College.Kenny left school early to study with renowned Detroit pianist,Barry Harris, who became his mentor and considers Kenny one of his top proteges out of many students.He has played with such greats as Bill Hardman,Junior Cook,Leroy Williams, Sonny Red,Louis Hayes,Johnny Coles,Odean Pope,Bootsie Barnes,Jymie Merrit, Mickey Roker and many others.He is currently appearing Fri and Sat at the Prime Rib Rest. Warwick Hotel 17th and Locust Philadelphia.
