ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I have owned an art gallery, been an art restorer, a poet, a song writer, a fisherman, a charter boat captain, a sailboat skipper with extensive experience in the West Indies, a missionary boat captain, and have been alcohol and drug free since 1981. I remember very clearly how tough sobriety was early on, and I promised to someday make an album about this.

I belong to several 12 step programs, and understand the importance of "giving it away in order to keep it".

Some of these songs are humorous, (now), some are sad, as they describe a "hopeless state of mind and body" and others are more spiritual as I sing about my "higher power".
I hope you enjoy listening to "It Was-It Is", and if there is anyone who might be helped by my words, then I and truly thankful to God for using me as His instrument to do this!

Love to all,
Kenny K.

Meaningful Lyrics and a Fun Tropical Folk Sound
“Recovery It was-It is” by Kenny K is a CD with meaningful lyrics and an tropical folk sound reminiscent of Jimmy Buffet. The lyrics are simple and heartfelt. Some tracks on “Live and Let Live” give the simple lesson that no man is truly alone, that there is always someone out there just like you. There is a spiritual message to those who have or are recovering from substance abuse. The folky tropical style with harmonica fills, gives an upbeat feel to the music. Some of the tracks on the CD are humorous and some are sad, but each is unique. “Whiskey Down The Drain” has a nice build to a strong chorus, and includes humorous lyrics and a traditional country sound. “Happy Joyous and Free” nicely combines serious lyrics with an upbeat tropical folk sound. "How She Cried" has a strong Johnny Cash feel to it, which works well with Kenny's vocals. If you enjoy tropical folk music of artists like Jimmy Buffet, or can relate to substance abuse recovery, this is an excellent CD to check out.
