gumbo live- blueseyfrank van engelen-bluesiana radio if you dig the heat of new orleans, this album is for you. a party-mix from jazz-blues-funk-soul in a special gumbo style.think dr. john, neveille bros, and the old traditional jazz, and you have this splented group of musicians with frontman kenneth sara. this album includes wellknown songs, but they all sound different and allways with the right touch. gershwins summertime is blended in a very special flavour with some great sax plaiing. soul seranade, a king curtis tune is fantastic, and one of my highlights. if you want to have a party, this is a musthave--- new orleans is hot hot hot, thanks guys.

The sounds were great - enjoyed every cut on the CD
author: Lynne Tharan
While I'm not a die-hard jazz fan (I like all types of music), this CD was a treat from start to finish. The selection of songs was varied, but all were candy for the ears. Very talented musicians - did you hear how long that sax note held?

AMAZING MUSIC...and legendary musicians!!!!
author: Tim Price
If you like good music...sweet soul music, get this CD. There's no question in my mind that this band shouldn't be a national touring band doing all the major festivals and clubs. The musicianship on this band is of the highest calibur. Everyone's a leader. But the cool thing also is everyone knows how to play as a band member and groove. Which makes it so much fun to listen to whether you're just listening or going for deep musical spirituality. The music is wide ranging and engaging and gracefully entertaining. One of the assets of this band is a life long saxophone hero of mine named David Woodford. To set the record straight, back in 1969 in Boston this sax master was taking care of serious business. This is before Brecker, Sanborn, and a host of other household names became popular. My point is Woodford was already forging in stone the history and definition of modern day saxophone in this kind of groove. His sound and soul rank right up there with King Curtis, Sam the Man Taylor, Red Prysock, and Jr. Walker. He was playing the style that many people are trying to point to a good two and a half decades before anybody, and you can tell from my words he was doing it in style and also adding a huge dose of originality to this genre. As you can tell I've totally enjoyed his playing for over thirty years. To make a long story short each member of the band stands on common ground with each other so the same thing can be said about every other member as I said about Woodford. If you listen to this CD you'll realize good music sells and at the same time can be entertaining as well as soul satisfying. I suggest not only do you buy this CD but you tell every one of your friends about it. Without question some of the best music being played today.
