"Keram has made what has to be one of the most compelling albums of this last year. Any one of these 9 cuts could conceivably make it onto rotation; pick up a copy of this album and learn who Keram is before everyone else does." - NeuFutur Magazine
"Keram Malicki-Sanchez never ceases to amaze me, with every album or single; “Box”, is packed with intensely warm-hearted harmonies, rich vocals, and passionate guitars and piano." - MousaGenre Reviews
"Box is an acoustic collection of ballads, rich in self exposure and warmth of tone and soul. When not contemplating the twists and turns of affairs of the heart, Keram settles heavily on the theme of death. Whatever life-altering incident caused his subdued yet noticeable cynical disposition to surface may have altered how he pictured the world, but it brings out an intense determination that gets infused into his music." - Pitch Perfect Reviews
Founder of seminal Toronto act Blue Dog Pict and the Constant Change Music label, Keram's songs have been featured on various film soundtracks including "Uptown Girls" (Nettwerk), Happy Campers (New Line) and "Broken" starring Heather Graham with whom Keram co-starred in a video for his song "The Hanging Tree". Heather Graham also sings lead vocal for the song in the film. The song became the feature track on a subsequent soundtrack, which features a variety of songs by Brian Jonestown Massacre (Fuel 2000 Records, 2008.)
As an actor, Keram is known for playing the comic villain Ink in Punisher: War Zone from Lionsgate Films and Marvel Comics. He has also appeared in 24, CSI, ER and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
On his new release Box, he gives voice to the long-developing acoustic side of his artistry. Recording the album came about as he and longtime collaborator Josh Joudrie were tracking vocals for a full-band supersonic rock electronica fusion project called Come To Life. Keram decided to take the opportunity to further capture some of the acoustic material he had developed at Hollywood's popular showcase spot Hotel Café. He plans to release Come To Life in the fall 2009.
Box is a quiet contemplative album that belies the quirky cleverness of Keram's fertile imagination - sneaking broken record players, faulty echo machines and household percussion in and around the deceptively simple acoustic guitar and piano compositions.
His particular breed of indie folk-rock carries a subtle sophistication that pins down the meandering guitars and found objects that underscore his poignant and insightful lyrics.
