"Friends. Life. Answers. Courage. These are themes from Lindy Kerby’s album, Little Miracles, that stand as a direct antithesis of an ever-increasingly skeptical world. The moment I pushed play on my nightstand CD player to listen to Little Miracles for the first time, I was able to escape the demands of my day and once again find peace and hope.

Kerby’s compositions are heartfelt and thoughtful. Liner notes provide meaningful background to these “songs without words.” The beauty of solo piano music is that the composer can set a stage with a setting, then allow the listener the ability to go somewhere with a song and “fill in the blanks.”

Take “Joshua’s Lullaby”. A newborn child, amazed with all the discoveries this world has to offer, finds relaxation through one special song he heard for months before he was even born. My mind soars with thoughts of a loving mother – my loving mother, my wife as a new mother, and all loving mothers that have influenced my life.

My personal favorite on the album is Pure Love. The melody is very optimistic and the chord progressions compliment the melody very well. A true pick-me-up.

Kerby’s style can be compared to a nice blend of George Winston and David Lanz, with her special touch making it her own.

Little Miracles is a wonderfully balanced collection of songs. Each of the twelve compositions are different enough to be distinguishable while still being true to the feel of the album. I wasn’t jolted out of my bed by a surprising ragtime song that followed a lullaby. All songs ranged from a mellow to medium feel, and that is what I look for in a relaxing solo piano album.

There is a peaceful comforting feeling present throughout the entire CD. Lindy has a wonderful delicate touch on the piano which allows the tranquil spirit of the compositions to come through. My favorite compositions on the CD are "In His Keeping," "Always," and "Peace Within." I appreciate her approach to composition and performance. Her CD is a pleasure to listen to in a focused way or as an artistic backdrop to a dinner party or family gathering.
