Album Notes

The Pickle Jar is my second album of original music. It is a collection of songs about a few pickles I've found myself in, that turned out to be blessings.

This album features remarkable musicians from Portland, Oregon including Drew Shoals on drums, Jamie Stillway on guitar, Arthur Parker on bass, Skip von Kuske on cello, and me on vocals and piano.

The music on this album explores many different genres from something Alison Krauss-esque, to old-timey jazz, to country, to funk, to classical, to electric rock. Meanwhile, the lyrics are what drive each song on their journey of self-reflection and through the battle between the mind and the heart.

I hope that you enjoy this new creation.

Talk about nailing it!

How absolutely refreshing to listen to this album. A wonderfully unique style but with touches of familiarity - I sat listening & thinking..."who does she remind me of? Someone I used to just love..." But does it matter who she reminds me of? Nope, because she's got so much of herself to offer here, it's great! I'm linking this page to three friends I know will love this & will likely want to pick up a copy for themselves. I know I'm going to.

Delish!

This lil' lady will charm your ears wide open and clean out the ol' cobwebs in your heart and expand your mind with just a coupla spins of the cd. Talent and genius mixed together creates my favorite kind of music. I love it. Over and over and over and over. All I can say is MORE please.

Warning: Songs will get stuck in your head

I love this album. It's so catchy, sweet and wise. You'll be singing along in no time, and you'll wish Lesley was your new best girlfriend, because she seems so fun and smart and easy to hang out with. It's the kind of music that isn't specific to any age or group, you can be unembarrassed as you play it for your mom or your brother or your students or customers. Just enjoy!

Extraordinary Invention
author: F. Pierce
This is the best album I've heard in a long time: alternately mellow, mature, and unapologetically passionate. If you think songwriters should ask the big questions without losing track of the simple things, this music is for you. Ms. Kernochan makes us laugh, blush, and remember, and surprises us at every turn. As a singer, her range is stratospheric, but it's the direct intimacy of her voice that sells the songs. There's some mighty tasty cello and guitar work on this album, but the instrument that makes it really cruise is the voice of Ms. Kernochan herself. A superb collection of exceptional songs.
