Melodiously Flavorful Conscious Pop. That would be the best way to describe Purple Sunrise and the songwriter's style behind it. It's her life written in each song supported by trademark vocals--soulful, intense with a touch of vulnerability.

Purple Sunrise, Kerry's first solo project was created out of a strong desire to heal, find truth and gain peace. She explores the complexities of who we are as people. The freedom of her lyrics will remind you of artists such as Alanis Morissette, Paula Cole and Sarah McLachlan.
Of Cuban decent, Kerry Fernandez has been musical since the age of 4. Throughout her life she has performed in numerous bands as lead vocalist as well as keyboardist and bassist. The birth of her child led her to re-evaluate her music as more than just a hobby. Besides wanting to express herself through her lyrics, she knew that her writings could touch others in similar situations. "Digging into our souls and coming up with the truth---once it's in the light we can't help but deal with it", says Kerry.
This album was blessed with some wonderful musicians who helped to further explore fresh direction in each song. Many thanks to Jeff Prosetti, John Putnam, John Benthal, Shaheed Shabazz, Oscar Isoba and Hiram Perez

Having heard Kerry's music for well over 10 years now. I must admit her voice has definitely matured. Much more melodius. The music on this CD shows depth and does take you on a journey as you listen to it.
My only negative would be in the mix.
Bass sounds great but tends to over shadow harmony. The music sounds crisp as do the vocals although I prefer less bass it doesn't damper the overall experience.
Nicely done.
