Album Notes

Hi, This is Ron Kert. I'm a singer from Tampa, FL. I frequent piano bars in the Tampa Bay metro area, as well as occasionally in the Washington DC / northern Virginia metro area, and Philadelphia (my home town). My favorite two types of songs to sing are beautiful melodic ballads and Blues. I also like to sing 1950's/1960's-era Rock'n'Roll and crooner and big band tunes from the 1930's through 1950's. My style is a cross between Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, and Dean Martin. Some of my favorite male singers (all are influences) are Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Englebert Humperdinck, Bobby Darin, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, and Elton John. My favorite famous musician is Elton John.

I was extremely lucky to find, listen to, sing with, record with, and become friends with Tom Saputo. Tom is a full-time professional musician living in Springfield, VA. He is an extraordinarily talented piano and keyboard player, guitarist, bass player, drummer, song writer, and vocalist. He is the hottest piano bar player in the Washington DC area, and is so loved and respected that many top professional DC area vocalists stop by his piano bar "open mic" gigs, and sing with him on their nights off. He has a few of his CD titles for sale here on CD Baby. Check out his great originals on "Jangles" (vol. 1 and 2), and his super covers of classic Blues tunes on "Blue City" (every instrument and vocal you hear on these wonderful albums is Tom Saputo).

Tom played keyboards (electric piano and synthesizer for strings and horns), electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, and drums on this CD, as well as singing back-up to my vocals. Good friend Larry Kopp played clarinet on four songs.

My tastes are eclectic: Blues, rock, light rock ballads, jazz, crooner tunes, big band, folk, country, soul, show tunes, etc. So, this CD is somewhat diverse.

Rock'n'Roll piano lovers: Check out Tom Saputo's blistering piano solo on track 13 (Jerry Lee Lewis medley).

The track that I'm most pleased with: "Lonesome Town".

Cd is well produced with lots of heart and soul. Ron has a wonderful feeling in his voice and puts a lot of energy in every song with his own style. Tom is a fantastic talent also, a man who can do everything. I really love this Cd. I never get tired listening to it.

Variety and quality are the key words here, but Ron's distinctive vocal style and unique timber really define this project. Tom's talent on piano and guitar is stellar and obviously inspired Ron to sing at his very highest level. I really love this project, especially the blues tunes.
