Kevin delivers another sonic masterpiece
author: Bill Mazur
“Glow in the Dark” is a stunningly beautiful collection of music. Kevin's music is incredibly heartfelt and emotional. As with “Near Life Experience”, the compositions and arrangements are intricate and evolve in a flowing cinematic manner. “Glow in the Dark” has a mixture of dark and mysterious moods as well as one stand out joyful piece which is the title track. Kevin utilizes many different sonic textures that paint an aural landscape that you can get completely lost in and then find your way out again at the end of the journey.

Not for the faint of heart or spirit

This album, a followup to Bartlett's "Near Life Experience" of 2003 ups the ante in the best way possible.
We live in dark times, with all signs pointing to darker times before it gets better.
"Glow in the Dark" is the perfect album for this moment in history - a heroic journey through darkness and pain to hope and redemption. If "Near Life" was the soundtrack for the movie in your head, "Glow" is the soundtrack for mankind's journey.
Every single song resonates with a universal experience, whether it's fear, anger, sadness, passion or devotion, and Bartlett's masterful mix of melody, sinuous guitar and guest appearances by sounds from some other galaxy transports the listener to a higher plane where we can look at ourselves and the world.
Some of the songs insinuate themselves into your consciousness quietly...Moon v. Moon, Nothing Really, Next Life, Something Probably, The Sorrow. Others drag you in and take you under, but hold you tight until you burst back into the daylight...Stethoscope, Resuscitation, God's Little Do-Over. My two personal favorites are Chauncey Saucer and the title track. Chauncey is an epic piece of music, full of unexpected delights and moments that raise the hair on the back of your neck. "Glow in the Dark" is my vote for this generation's anthem. It is the most uplifting piece of music I've heard since Deep Forest's Forest Hymn...and I never believed I'd find a piece of music that could equal that song's power to transform. Kevin Bartlett's done it. This is a brilliant album.
